Lim Wui Liang

liangLim Wui Liang, an accomplished photojournalist from Singapore, is a master’s student at Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism, where he specializes in digital media. After graduating from college in 2004, Liang joined The Straits Times, Singapore’s national English paper, as a photojournalist. Besides covering breaking news, he has shot and written features on gravediggers, basic military training and Africans in Singapore.

He has traveled extensively in Asia and the rest of the world. Some of the places he has visited are Morocco, Pakistan, North Korea and Everest Base Camp. His work has garnered Singapore Press Holdings awards and as well as an IFRA Asia Media Award for Best in Photojournalism in 2008.

More than just capturing the decisive moment, Liang feels that photography is about the ability to transpose a feeling into an image. He photographs everyday life in a manner that is ironic, surreal, innocent or just plain funny. He also loves watching movies, sashimi and a good steak.
